This guide is designed to quickly teach you the essential etiquette for Unnamed Events, Operations and Missions. If you only ever read one Unnamed guide in full, make it this one.
Before diving into etiquette, let’s first define what an Event, Operation or Mission actually is.
Event: A scheduled or ad-hoc occurrence of a Mission or Operation.
Mission: A specific task or objective assigned to a unit, group or party.
Operation (“Ops”): A larger, coordinated effort, which can involve multiple units and resources to achieve a goal. Each unit or group having its own “mission” within the larger operation.
Now that you know the definitions, lets look at the details of these events and how to join them.
Missions – Posted in the #sc-party-up channel on Discord, missions are similar to events but occur more frequently and with shorter notice. Anyone can initiate a mission, and multiple missions can run simultaneously. If you assemble at least two additional crew members, your operation may earn Unnamed Points as a reward.
Missions vary in scale, from small groups farming faction reputation or engaging in contested zones to large-scale mining or salvaging missions—participation dictates the scope. Like operations, missions will include key details such as the commander, event time, rally location, estimated duration, threat level, and a brief description.

Operations– Ops. are scheduled in advance by leadership and can include training exercises, organized battles, or resource-gathering operations. You’ll have the opportunity to RSVP and, if available, select a role for the mission.
Upon signing up, you’ll receive key details such as who is in command, event time, rally location, estimated duration, threat level, and a brief description. Once you RSVP, you’ll be automatically added to an ops. dedicated Discord thread. where you can ask questions, join discussions, and stay updated on ops specific topics.

Mission and Operation Etiquette
Now that you understand Missions and Operations, it’s time to level up—from Brine Shrimp to Pistol Shrimp.
First and foremost, remember that Star Citizen is a living MMO with no pause menu or timeouts—time is everything. If you want to be a true Pistol Shrimp, you need to be on time, come prepared, and communicate effectively. We’ll break down each of these key aspects to ensure you’re fully ready for your next mission or operation.
Being on time: If a Mission or Operation is scheduled for 8:00 PM, aim to be in Discord by 7:45 PM. Our goal is to be leaving the hangars right at the start time, not still organizing.
Make sure you know the rally point in advance and get there ahead of time! The rally location will be listed in the mission or operation details or posted in the Discord Voice Channel.
Being Prepared: Time to channel your inner Boy or Girl Scout—”Be Prepared!”
Before diving into a Mission or Operation, make sure you have a proper loadout. Stock up on ammo, tools, medical supplies, and sustenance to last through the mission—plus a few extras, just in case.
Set your Medical Regeneration at the rally point, and ensure your ships are claimed or stored at the station so you’re ready to deploy without delay.
In Pyro, the three major stations—Checkmate, Ruin, and Obituary—serve as key strategic hubs. As for Stanton we highly recommend Baijini Point, Seraphim Station and Port Tressler. A fully prepared Pistol Shrimp keeps essential gear stocked at multiple stations, including:
- Two suits of armor – Heavy for combat and light for multi-crew mobility.
- Two primary weapons – Offering versatility for any engagement.
- Essential tools – Tractor beams and medical guns for utility and survival.
- Ample ammunition and supplies – Enough to last the entire mission.
The difference between success and scrambling is preparation—gear up and be ready!
Communication
The most important tool in any organization’s arsenal—and often the deciding factor in battle—is good communication.
In the Unnamed, all Missions and Operations channels are set to Push to Talk. During critical moments, we don’t need to hear your dog barking, your partners agro for you spending too much time playing video games, or your momma bringing you a plate of chicken nuggies. Keeping communication clear and concise is vital to our success.
To set up your Push to Talk key, simply head to Discord’s User Setting -> Voice & Video settings-> Push to Talk Shortcut. We recommend you use a spare mouse button for your PTT key.

Now that we’ve got our communication clear, let’s focus on keeping it concise. In the Unnamed, we use 3rd person speak to avoid confusion. Mikey and Devo might know your voice, but Meckle and BigMurder could be left wondering, “Who the hell was that!?” So when you are spotting any enemy or asking for assistance it’s best to start with “Yourname, Needs assistance” or “Yourname, Enemy Spotted” for example.
Next, let’s focus on being as concise as possible while providing the most helpful information. Here’s an example of poor communication from our Brine Shrimp infantry:
Brine Shrimp 1: “I am over here!!! The enemies are in front of me over there!! Uh Uh Uh, maybe a few, idk!!!”
Brine Shrimp 2: “Where are you?!?!?!”
Brine Shrimp 1: “Over here to your left!”
Brine Shrimp 2: “where is that?!?!?!”
Now, let’s see how Pistol Shrimp would handle it:
Pistol Shrimp 1: “Pistol Shrimp has multiple enemy contacts, 30 degrees.”
Pistol Shrimp 2: Copy
Notice the difference? Clear, concise, and helpful—that’s the Pistol Shrimp way!
Combat can be hectic, but a clear, fast message with the right information can often be the key to turning the tide of battle. While we’re all about having fun and enjoying the experience, when it’s time to win, we want to be as prepared and efficient as possible! Stay sharp, and let’s make every mission count.
Now that you’re familiar with missions, operations, and the etiquette, come join us on Discord for all the fun! Lastly, I want to remind all you Shrimp’s that, at the end of the day, this is just a video game – real life always comes first. So if you miss an op start, don’t have all the gear, or make a slip-up on comms, don’t worry – no one’s going to bite your head off. We’re here to have fun! But we want to strive to be successful! Feel free to join any op, at any time, and bring what you’ve got. See you in the verse, Shrimp!
